About us:

The Translational Research/Pathology Shared Resource provides outstanding full range histopathology services complemented by access to unique banked tissue collections and Laser Capture Microdissection of tissues to capture individual cells for SKCC members, TJU and external users. The Translational Research/Pathology Shared Resource is used by over 100 investigators and has provided key data that support numerous publications and grant applications.

Our Instruments

The mission of this shared resource is to provide:

  1. An outstanding array of histopathology services, including tissue processing, slide preparation, histochemical staining
  2. Immunohistochemical staining, which is performed on paraffin sections, frozen tissue or cytologic preparations and utilizes a broad range of optimized commercial antibodies or antibodies provided by the investigator; automated processing and tissue stainers provide highly reproducible results and allow co-registration of staining in the SR with analysis carried out in clinical pathology laboratories
  3. Procurement, banking and distribution of human neoplastic tissue, which are essential to support the translational research goals of SKCC
  4. Laser Capture Microdissection of tissues to capture individual cells
  5. Quality Assurance and Clinical-Pathologic Data Collection

Procedures to Utilize This Shared Resource:

For all first time users, please watch iLab user tutorials videos.

The procedures are:

1. Both lab member who is going to use SKCC shared resources under iLab and their PI need register in iLab system if they haven’t done so. For internal users, they will use their Jefferson campus key and password to log in after complete the registration. External users can generate their own user name and password. PI should register first, so their lab member can register under the PI’s lab. PI need approve the lab member’s membership in iLab system before he can join the lab in iLab system. See instruction How to manage membership request and charge codes (for PI)

See iLab registration link:

2. For internal users, PI need set up payment information with our IT expert Ryan Smalley (Tel: 3-9692, Email: after the registration.
